Cynthia Sirota has been an integral part of the NAMI Westside family for over a decade, dedicating herself to supporting individuals with mental health conditions. Her journey began 12 years ago when she joined a family support group, drawing from her own experiences to help others. As a trained facilitator for both family-to-family classes and support groups, Cynthia has welcomed many into her home for group sessions alongside Sharon Dunas before the pandemic.

Her commitment extended to the Cal Hope NAMI Westside collaboration, where she honed her skills as a crisis counselor. In this role, she offered guidance to those struggling with the complexities and emotional toll of mental health systems, including issues like frustration, depression, and anxiety.

Cynthia’s contributions to mental health advocacy have been recognized with the NAMI Westside L.A. Outstanding Community Service Award, a testament to her exceptional efforts in providing resources and support to the community. Together with her son Garrett, she has also participated in the Janice Black Warner Speaker Series, sharing insights alongside Dr. Marder from UCLA.
