NAMI Westside Los Angeles offers support groups for adults (18+) who are living with mental health conditions. (NOTE: During the COVID-19 public health crisis, we are having virtual support groups online, using the video-conference service Zoom; see below for more).

Our support groups are free and no registration is required for you to attend. If you have a mental health condition, you are not alone. One in 5 American adults experiences some form of mental illness in any given year. Our peer groups provide an opportunity for people coping with brain illnesses to share their stories, learn from one another, and give and receive support to others facing similar challenges, in a safe and confidential setting. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by trained leaders whoโ€™ve been there.

The group encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community. Youโ€™ll benefit from otherโ€™s experiences, discover your inner strength and empower yourself by sharing your own experiences in a non-judgmental space. Attendees in our support groups report back they they have learned new coping skills and tools from others who have the lived experience of recovery.

About Our Peer Support Groups

Peer Support Groups at NAMI Westside Los Angeles welcome families touched by mental illness. Participation is free, and there’s no need to register before joining us.

Understanding that you’re not alone is crucial when someone you care about is navigating a mental health condition. Our family support groups provide a confidential and safe space where families and friends of those with mental health challenges can connect. These gatherings offer a platform for sharing personal experiences, gaining insights from others in similar situations, and both offering and receiving support. Facilitated by individuals who have family members with mental health conditions, these groups foster a sense of solidarity and understanding. Participants often express that they leave with newfound comfort, actionable coping strategies, and valuable guidance.
