April 2022 Janis Black Warner Speaker Series Guest: Adam Sholder

Our April Janis Black Warner Speaker Series event will feature Adam Sholder, the Founder/Executive Director of Insight Enrichment Group and a volunteer with NAMI WLA as a family support group facilitator and as a lead presenter for our Ending the Silence program. He has been working in education and mental health for the past three decades and has developed numerous programs throughout his career for young adults living with mental health conditions. In 2004, Adam created Insight Enrichment Group, providing individualized and integrated psychosocial support, life skills education, executive functioning coaching, and case management to teens and adults living with mental health conditions. Recognizing the need for meaningful work for many of their clients, IEG established their Peer Mentoring Program in 2010. IEG established their independent living program, LaunchPad Living, in 2018, followed by their peer-led, nonprofit creative community, A Gap In The Forest, in 2020. A passionate voice in mental health advocacy and education, Adam also maintains numerous speaking engagements and educational presentations.

“As a volunteer with NAMI for the past several years, I truly appreciate all the NAMI offers their community by way of support, education, and resources,” says Sholder. “This presentation, ‘Failure to Launch at Any Age’ aims to education families in the NAMI community with this all-too-familiar topic, and provides information about alternative, adjunct community-based treatment and support options for individuals living with chronic mental health conditions. Attendees at this presentation will learn about the specific benefits of community-based treatment and psychosocial support for individuals in cases when therapy and psychopharmacological interventions may not be sufficient for practical progress. Additionally, attendees will learn to identify individuals who may benefit from psychosocial support, and assess individuals who may be the best candidates for successfully utilizing this option. Attendees will also learn about community-based resources and how to establish a collaborative community-based treatment team.”
