Disability Community Resource Center
Founded in 1993, the volunteer Council provides individualized assistance, especially to neuro- psychiatrically challenged. Peer-driven advocacy, community and agency consultation. Assists with Social Security medical reviews, provides information on transportation, utility reduced- rates and service/therapy animals. Experience in HUD discrimination process, successful HUD litigant. Advises, makes educational presentations on affordable housing, tenant/landlord rights. One member of Staff serves on the City of Santa Monica Disabilities Commission; Santa Monica Housing Commission; Relocation Appeals Board, Redevelopment Agency. Stigma, agency literature available. Los Angeles Department of Mental Health’s Court Liaison Program
MHAS is a private nonprofit serving adults and children with mental and developmental disabilities with an emphasis on obtaining government benefits and services, protecting rights, and fighting discrimination.
