Disability Community Resource Center

Founded in 1993, the volunteer Council provides individualized assistance, especially to neuro- psychiatrically challenged. Peer-driven advocacy, community and agency consultation. Assists with Social Security medical reviews, provides information on transportation, utility reduced- rates and service/therapy animals. Experience in HUD discrimination process, successful HUD litigant. Advises, makes educational presentations on affordable housing, tenant/landlord rights. One member of Staff serves on the City of Santa Monica Disabilities Commission; Santa Monica Housing Commission; Relocation Appeals Board, Redevelopment Agency. Stigma, agency literature available. Los Angeles Department of Mental Health’s Court Liaison Program

MHAS is a private nonprofit serving adults and children with mental and developmental disabilities with an emphasis on obtaining government benefits and services, protecting rights, and fighting discrimination. Patients’ Rights (a division of LA County Department of Mental Health)
