Kicking Off Pride Month with an Unforgettable Honor

As we step into Pride Month with enthusiasm and pride, NAMI Westside Los Angeles has some exciting news to share! Our very own Advisory Council Member, Juan Acosta, had the incredible honor of welcoming Vice President Kamala Harris to Los Angeles alongside Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. This prestigious event was also attended by NAMI Westside LA’s dedicated Elizabeth Stephens.

For Juan Acosta, this experience was nothing short of a dream come true. The opportunity to meet and converse with Vice President Harris is a testament to the vital work Juan does in the realms of mental health and LGBTQ+ advocacy. During their conversation, Juan highlighted the urgent need for a permanent solution for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and shared insights on the intersection of mental health and LGBTQ+ issues.

Vice President Harris expressed her gratitude for Juan’s tireless efforts and dedication, assuring him that she is committed to working hard and listening to the voices that drive these important causes. Her words of encouragement are a powerful reminder of the impact that dedicated individuals and organizations like NAMI Westside LA can have on our community and beyond.

This event marks a significant and uplifting start to Pride Month for NAMI Westside LA. We are proud of Juan Acosta and the vital work he does, and we are honored to have him represent our organization on such a prominent platform. As we continue to advocate for mental health and support the LGBTQ+ community, we remain inspired and motivated by moments like these.

Join us in celebrating Pride Month and supporting the incredible work of advocates like Juan. Together, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate world for everyone.
