The Exodus Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) is a 16 bed locked LPS designated PHF in Los Angeles county providing services to acutely mentally ill, ambulatory, voluntary and involuntary patients requiring inpatient hospitalization for treatment of their mental illness. In a safe and therapeutic recovery based milieu the following services will be provided to adults ages 18 and above: assessments in compliance with all regulatory guidelines, medication evaluation and management, structured program and individual / group therapies as well as patient centered treatment planning. The treatment philosophy at Exodus PHF is based on the premise that all individuals have the potential to rehabilitate and to make choices about their environments for living, learning, working and socializing. Treatment concentrates on symptom reduction and stabilization, and on preparation for discharge, with linkage to other community resources. The interdisciplinary treatment team will develop a plan of care in collaboration with the patient to address the specific needs of each patient. All services are provided under the direct supervision of a psychiatrist. Gateways Adolescent Inpatient Program has 27 adolescent inpatient beds. Serving adolescents from ages 13-17. It is fully accredited and licensed to provide an intensive therapy program for adolescents including diagnostic and evaluation services. The hospital staff is familiar with the Mental Health court system and can provide assistance with placement referrals when indicated for hospitalized patients. The clinical staff consists of a multidisciplinary treatment team with expertise in the psychiatric and psychological care of adolescents with mental disorders and/or substance abuse/dependency. Gateways Hospital accepts patients funded by the Short-Doyle and Medi-Cal programs. 

Gateways Adult Inpatient Program has 28 adult inpatient beds. It is fully accredited and licensed to provide an intensive therapy program for adults including diagnostic and evaluation services. The hospital staff is familiar with the Mental Health court system and can provide assistance with placement referrals when indicated for hospitalized patients. Child Inpatient: The Child Inpatient offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment of children ages 5-12 years of age with a variety of emotional and behavioral problems including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, severe disruptive behavior, and depression. The inpatient treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, registered nurses, and case managers. In addition, each child obtains a physical by a pediatrician. The interdisciplinary team works to provide comprehensive assessment of the child’s needs in order to devise treatment interventions and discharge planning recommendations. The child’s program will include developmentally-appropriate therapeutic activities in a closely supervised environment. Extensive opportunities for observation, assessment, and intervention are possible in this intensive setting. The treatment interventions are individually created for each child, yet typically include a combination of individual psychotherapy, behavioral modification, family counseling, and psychotropic medications. Specialized assessments including psychological testing, and occupational therapy assessments, as needed. Caregivers/parents are encouraged to actively participate with the treatment team. The goal for each discharged child is to increase their feelings of safety towards self and others as they re-enter the community, and to link them to outpatient providers and aftercare resources to support them. 

Adult Inpatient: The Adult Inpatient offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment of adults ages 18-64 years of age who present as a danger to self, danger to others, or as gravely disabled (unable to source food/clothing/shelter for themselves). The inpatient treatment team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, registered nurses, and case managers. In addition, every patient is provided with a physical by an internist. The interdisciplinary team works to provide comprehensive assessment of the patient’s needs in order to devise treatment interventions and discharge planning recommendations. Adult Intensive Care Psychiatry Service: The Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA offers this Psychiatric Service for patients who need medical assistance in stabilization of an acute emotional or psychiatric crisis, with or without complications by substance or alcohol abuse or dependence. Treatment consists of the expertise of psychiatric physicians, medical specialists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nursing staff, occupational therapists and marriage and family therapists. 

ICU, Acute & Substance Abuse Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Unit: A 25-bed inpatient unit located in the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital (R-NPH). This unit provides psychiatric services to adult patients who are hospitalized for the diagnosis and treatment of major psychiatric illnesses. The unit accepts patients admitted under the care of psychiatrists on either a voluntary or involuntary basis. The inpatient unit is divided into three distinct sections. One section is for patients who require intensive nursing care and treatment due to severely disorganized, unsafe, or agitated states. Another section is for the acutely ill adult who needs routine nursing care for the treatment of their psychiatric illness. The third section is for the adult who has substance abuse issues co-occurring with other major psychiatric illnesses, and specializes in so-called “dual diagnosis.
