Los Angeles Gender Center
Individual Therapy: The Los Angeles Gender Center provides referrals to affiliate therapists who have expertise in the area of gender, gender identity, and gender dysphoria. They offer identity affirming, individual and family therapy services to children, adults, parents, and partners. Because our affiliates operate in private practice, fees, insurance, and scheduling are managed by each individual affiliate and are not determined by LAGC. Due to COVID-19, all services are being provided via teletherapy and will be for the foreseeable future. Peer Support Group: LAGC offers peer support groups for transmasculine, transfeminine, and non-binary individuals, and collaborate with Transforming Family, a support group for parents of non-binary and transgender children, adolescents, and young adults. Due to COVID-19, all groups are held via Zoom. Letters of recommendation for surgery: We believe that requiring referral letters for gender-affirming procedures is a discriminatory practice that supports the continued disenfranchisement of trans and gender non-conforming community members. We believe there is no one gender journey, narrative, or right way to transition, and each person’s experience is valid. Letters will follow the Standards of Care and the insurance company’s requirements and include the minimum necessary for approval. Legal Name and Gender Marker Change Assistance: Meetings are held via Zoom and provide assistance with determining if you qualify for a fee waiver, filling out all the required court paperwork, and follow up assistance with changing ID documents after you receive your court order. We can provide assistance for both adults and minors. You do not need to reside in California.

The Trevor Project
The Trevor Project offers accredited life-saving, life-affirming programs and services to LGBTQ youth that create safe, accepting and inclusive environments over the phone, online and through text. We Exist (Program of Tarzana Treatment Centers)
We Exist is a Los Angeles County DMH funded program dedicated to expanding access and improving services for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, and Two Spirit (LGBTQI2-S) transition age youth and their families/caregivers. We Exist provides free of charge community presentations and staff training to increase awareness around working with the LGBTQI2-S TAY population. We Exist covers service areas 1, 2, 5, and 8.
Outreach and Referrals:
The We Exist team provides street and community level outreach to connect directly with LGBTQI2-S youth and the service providers and community members who support them. Based on outreach and community networking, We Exist connects LGBTQI2-S youth and their families to appropriate and LGBT affirming services. Referrals are available in any capacity that is relevant to LGBTQI2-S populations.

We Exist’s toolkit training gives service providers and community organizations an overview of critical issues facing LGBTQI2-S youth across Los Angeles County and provides strategies for creating more inclusive and affirming services for LGBTQI2-S clients. This training covers: safe and welcoming environments, clinical considerations and interventions, and outreach and engagement support and strategies. We Exist provides presentations to community groups to increase awareness of issues relevant to today’s LGBTQI2-S youth. Topics include:
