Our Janis Black Warner Speaker Series guest for December 2021 is booked. Join us Wednesday, December 1, 7 pm PT to hear Dr. Karen I. Wilson discuss addressing the mental health needs of young people transitioning to a post-pandemic world. Dr. Wilson is a clinical neuropsychologist and Director of West LA Neuropsychology, PC & ChildNEXUS, Inc. She is also a NAMI Westside Los Angeles board member.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the mental, emotional, and behavioral health of children and teenagers.  We have seen soaring rates of depression, anxiety, trauma, loneliness, and suicidality in young people.  As a result, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Children’s Hospital Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry have come together to declare that the mental health crisis among kids has become a national emergency.  While most students have transitioned back to in-person learning, children and adolescents continue to need emotional and social support. In this session, Dr. Karen Wilson will discuss how young people have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic, and she will share some tips for how to continue to support young people as we transition to a post-pandemic world.
