We’re proud to announce that we’re co-hosting “Mic Check: Music and Mental Health,” a new series of live-streamed concerts and experiences with our friends at Ninety3 Impact. This live-stream series will include an appearance by a mental health professional and an artist. You can live-stream it on our Facebook page or go to join the webinar. The launch will be Friday, April 10.

The series will feature performances from both emerging and top artists alongside accredited mental health professionals and activists in an entertaining yet educational program. The goal of the series is to bring people in through the lens of entertainment and music during this quarantined time and let them leave with free resources and tangible strategies for managing their mental health.

The opening episode on Friday, April 10, will be a 40-60 minute segment that will feature a 10-15 minute presentation from our own Executive Director, Erin Raftery Ryan about what we’re doing to support the mental health community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The musical guest is Forest Blakk, a Canadian singer-songwriter, spoken word poet, and passionate mental health advocate. Through his art, Forest shares the deepest parts of himself and challenges his audiences to do the same. He describes his sound as urban folk, mixing the tranquility and peace of folk music with the chaos and pulse of the city. Forest Blakk just recently released his new spoken-word piece called, “Wild Fire.”
