Disability Community Resource Center

Founded in 1993, the volunteer Council provides individualized assistance, especially to neuro- psychiatrically challenged. Peer-driven advocacy, community and agency consultation. Assists with Social Security medical reviews, provides information on transportation, utility reduced- rates and service/therapy animals. Experience in HUD discrimination process, successful HUD litigant. Advises, makes educational presentations on affordable housing, tenant/landlord rights. One member of Staff serves on the City of Santa Monica Disabilities Commission; Santa Monica Housing Commission; Relocation Appeals Board, Redevelopment Agency. Stigma, agency literature available. Los Angeles Department of Mental Health’s Court Liaison Program

A collaboration between the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Los Angeles County Superior Court. It is staffed by a team of 15 mental health clinicians who are co-located at 22 courts countywide. This recovery based program serves adults with a mental illness or co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorder who are involved with the criminal justice system. The program is part of DMH’s system of support and services offered throughout the criminal justice continuum from arrest to release.

Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County
