Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc.
Mental illness, substance abuse, unemployment, low-income, a high cost of living, a sudden expense or loss of income and lack of family support can all contribute to homelessness. At programs in Long Beach, Covina and Los Angeles, Catholic Charities tackles the root causes of homelessness to transform the lives of men, women and children. Through our emergency shelter and bridge and crisis housing programs, homeless individuals are offered a safe haven and the tools needed to lead self-sufficient lives. By way of our homeless prevention programs, which typically include case management and financial assistance, at-risk individuals and families are able to regain stability in their current housing. And through counseling, education, job training and support, those who were once homeless prepare for independent futures.

Downtown Women’s Center
Serving women in Service Area 4. At DWC, we operate under a Housing First model, which means that we do not require women to be employed, enrolled in substance use counseling, or to be receiving any kind of supportive services before they are considered eligible for housing. At DWC, we believe housing is a human right, and our first priority is to provide women with safe, permanent housing above all else. Once housed, women continue to enjoy access to the individualized support they need to work toward their goals and reach personal stability, including case management, physical and mental health care, job readiness, and community-building activities.

Homeless Outreach and Mobile Engagement (HOME)
The Homeless Outreach & Mobile Engagement (HOME) program provides field based outreach, engagement, support, and treatment to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who are experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Services are provided by: addressing basic needs; conducting clinical assessments; providing street psychiatry; and providing linkage to appropriate services (including mental health services substance abuse treatment and housing). HOME serves individuals 18 and over who are experiencing chronic unsheltered homelessness and who have profound mental health needs and associated impairments. These vulnerable and disengaged individuals struggle with securing appropriate food, clothing, and shelter due to their mental illness. In addition, they may have critical deficits in hygiene and communication, and are generally highly avoidant of services. They are unable to live safely in the community and require specialized mental health services in order to secure and sustain housing.

Housing Rights Center
(Formerly Westside Fair Housing Council) The Housing Rights Center (HRC) is California’s largest, private non-profit fair housing organization. HRC is contracted with Los Angeles and Ventura Counties to provide free fair housing services to the community.HRC services include:

National Health Foundation

Union Rescue Mission
Emergency Services: When someone first arrives at URM, this is the first stop to ensure their immediate physical needs are met. Gateway Project: Single adults get the help they need to escape homelessness without committing to our more intensive recovery program. Life-Transformation Ministry: Our long-term recovery programs for men help heal their brokenness and build positive new lives with a biblical foundation.
