Chrysalis, Santa Monica

Chrysalis is a non-profit that has helped over 60,000 people who are formerly homeless or suffered from other disadvantages find and retain employment. The program offers employment preparation classes and services designed to improve job search skills, self-confidence, self- sufficiency, and employability. Our goal is to help you prepare for, find, and keep a job. Services are free and open to all. Clients are assigned an Employment Specialist to offer one-on- one support as they work through their self-directed job search. Clients can access resume preparation, practice interviews, computers and internet, support groups, job prep classes, work wardrobe, transportation, and transitional jobs.

FSP: Special Service for Groups BACUP (Benefits Assistance Clients Urban Projects)

The Benefits Assistance Clients Urban Project is a mental health wellness center and benefit advocacy program. The wellness center also known as the LIFE Center provides activities to promote self-sufficiency and wellness for adults with mental illness. BACUP also works to educate the community the realities and stigmas of mental illness. 

LIFE Center:

Client-run center (Activities include: Smoking cessation, conflict resolution, games club, computer class, photo club, movie talk, arts & crafts, vision board, plant project, WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning) 

Benefits: 

Advocacy services providing representation to mental health clients for SSI and/or SSDI benefits. Staff represents clients “Initial” and 

“Reconsiderations” (1st appeals). 

Project Independence: 

Community education is provided through Project Independence.

Program of Support and Employment (PSE): 

Provides support for mental health clients working and/or seeking employment. Employment support groups meet weekly on Mon & Thurs, 3- 5pm. Individual counseling on benefit assistance in regard to employment is provided by the Employment Incentive Specialist. Assistance in seeking employment is provided on an individual basis.
