Ala Senior Living
Provides affordable housing, supportive services, and alternative housing options for low-income and formerly homeless older adults. Housing Providers can join the program to share their homes with compatible, pre-screened Housing Seekers who can pay a monthly rent for available rooms, offer assistance with household chores, or both. Housing Seekers are adults of all ages who may not wish to live alone or cannot afford to do so. They must be mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially self-sufficient. The organization will screen both providers and seekers, match compatibility, and execute living agreement.

Eldercare Locator
The Eldercare Locator is a nationwide service that connects older Americans and their caregivers with trustworthy local support resources. Since 1991, the Eldercare Locator has been linking those who need assistance with state and local agencies on aging, as well as community-based organizations that serve older adults and their caregivers. Elder Link
The only senior care referral service licensed by the Department of Public Health. They provide independent and free personalized senior care placement services to fully screened and approved nursing home, board and care, and assisted living facilities.

Grandparents as Parents, Inc. (A resource for all relative caregivers raising children)
Grandparents As Parents (GAP) is a non-profit organization that has provided programs and services to meet the urgent and on-going needs of grandparents and other relatives raising children at risk since 1987. Services offered include; family and social outings, caregiver advocacy, resources, financial assistance resources, support groups, and much more. See website for list of groups and locations. Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles
JFS offers a variety of support services and practical help including referral and advocacy, outreach, care management, counseling, consultation, assistance with reparations and claim forms, intergenerational programs, crisis intervention, and financial assistance to low income survivors of the holocaust.
Older Adults DMH Programs:
Provides psychotherapy and psychiatry services to low income adults age 55 and above. Services are provided in the home, at board and care or assisted living facilities, or other community settings. Services are provided in English, Farsi, Russian, and Spanish. Medi-Cal is accepted, and services can also be provided to low income uninsured individuals. FCCS provides treatment to individuals with moderate to severe symptomatology. Other programming is also available to older adults with mild to moderate symptoms.

Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP):
A non-sectarian case management program to help Frail Seniors to remain at home. MSSP is funded by the State of California. Eligible individuals must be 65 or over, have Medi-Cal, and be certified as nursing home level frailty. MSSP helps coordinate, manage and purchase a package of services to ensure that each individual gets the help he or she needs. We provide health and social assessment, ongoing case management, and advocacy. Services that we can arrange or pay for include in-home care, transportation, escort to doctor appointments, home-delivered meals, respite care, supportive counseling for clients and their families, and supplies and equipment.

Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department Home Modification Program
Handy Worker Program: Provides free minor home repairs and limited safety/security device improvements to low-income older adults age 62 years and older or disabled resident homeowners or homeowners with disabled relatives residing with them. Income limits apply. Emergency repairs that directly affect the health and safety of occupants are also provided to other homeowners if their income does not exceed the limits regardless of age or disability status.

Multipurpose Senior Centers (MPCs)
In Home Assistance:
Designed to assist frail older adults in maintaining an independent living by providing assistance with household tasks.
Nutrition Program:
Congregate Meals: We have multiple dining centers throughout the City that provide a hot nutritious meal five days a week. The meals are available to any senior. Donations are encouraged but are not required.
Home Delivered Meals: Delivers one hot, nutritious meal to home bound seniors five days a week.
Transportation:
Door-to-Door: A curb-to-curb transportation service for frail older adults provided through one of our Multipurpose Senior Centers. For more information, please contact us.
Wellness Education & Screening:

Social & Recreational Activities:

Special Services for Groups
Sustaining Independent Lives with Vital Empowering Resources (SILVER) has a long history and proven track record of providing services to the hard-to-reach racial and ethnic communities through linguistically and culturally appropriate care management services, as well as to mainstream, English speaking communities. The hallmark of SILVER’s program is field-based mental health and intensive case management services. Approximately 85% of all services are rendered within the community where clients reside, bridging the gaps in accessibility. SILVER’s staff is equipped with extensive experience working with low-income, chronically homeless and formerly homeless individuals with health, mental health and substance use issues, including those suffering from the most severe and persistent mental illness and with a long track record of homelessness, incarceration, and or are at extreme risk of homelessness and incarceration.

WISE Adult Day Service Center
The WISE Adult Day Service Center (ADSC) is open Monday-Friday, 8AM – 6PM, to allow caregivers the opportunity to work, perform other tasks, or take a much needed break knowing that their loved one is enjoying the day in a safe, comfortable, and stimulating environment. The ADSC specializes in caring for older adults who are physically frail (those using canes, walkers, or are dependent on others for assistance) and those with moderate to advanced dementia and Alzheimer’s diagnoses, including older adults who are dealing with Parkinson’s or experiencing the residual effects from a stroke. The trained staff provide daily socializing, purposeful recreation with therapeutic activities, personal care, exercise classes, health discussions, and nutritious lunches and snacks. Companion sitting services are also available. Caregiver support groups are offered as well as a resource/ lending library of books, videos, and information.

Wise and Healthy Aging
WISE & Healthy Aging is a private, non-profit organization that provides a wide variety of social services for older adults, age 50 and older, and their families. The organization is the result of a merger in 2007 of WISE Senior Services and Center for Healthy Aging. Adult Protective Services Home Safe Program:
The APS Home Safe Program includes short term prevention services such as housing stabilization, housing search & placement, income stabilization, landlord mediation & advocacy, legal advocacy, and reunification/relocation assistance. When appropriate, financial assistance may include security deposit, rental assistance, utilities assistance, move-in expenses, essential furnishing expenses, or reunification/relocation expenses among other services.

Critical Delivery Service:
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and Governor’s Executive Order, older adults have an increased need for timely home delivery services for grocery and essential goods. The Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS) department of LA County has launched a temporary delivery program called Critical Delivery Services (CDS) to deliver food and other vital items to individuals who are unable to leave their homes due to COVID-19. Delivery services are reserved for those who are: Aged 60 years and older and individuals with a permanent or temporary disability.

L.A. FOUND:
Los Angeles County and L.A. Found provide assistance to caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism and other cognitive impairments. New Freedom Transportation:
The County of Los Angeles Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services has received funding to provide transportation programs throughout Los Angeles County. The goal is to enhance transportation services to older adults and persons with disabilities who are eligible, at no cost. The New Freedom Volunteer Driver Mileage Reimbursement Program is offered at no charge to eligible individuals every month.
