COVID-19 Vaccinations

The COVID-19 vaccine is free for everyone, regardless of immigration status or healthcare coverage. All residents 5 years and older can get the vaccine without an appointment at all City and County vaccination sites. Vaccine Eligibility

Everyone 5 years or older is now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Everyone 18 years or older is eligible for the booster shot, regardless of immigration status or healthcare coverage. Everyone 12 years of age or older may get the Pfizer booster. See more about dosage timing and vaccine type here

A new Pick Up Testing Kit Program has been initiated where residents can pick up a test, complete it on their own, and return it to a designated site for analysis. For information on this program, look here.

Viral tests test for current infection. The most common are the PCR and antigen. PCR tests are regarded as the most accurate and require saliva or a swab from the nose or throat. Antigen tests, or RAPID tests, also require a swab from the nose or throat.For more information about types of tests, look here.

Free Flu Vaccinations

Flu vaccines are widely available across Los Angeles. To locate a flu vaccine near you, call your doctor, go to a local pharmacy, or visit VaccineFinder.org. The L.A. County Department of Public Social Services

The L.A. County Department of Public Social Services offers assistance with free or low-cost health care for those who qualify. Click here to apply for Medi-Cal.

CalWORKs is a public assistance program that provides cash aid, food, medical care and other services to low-income eligible families with children. To learn more about eligibility and to apply, visit the L.A. County Department of Public Social Services CalWORKs DPSS website.

COVID-19 Contact Tracing

L.A. County Department of Public Health teams, along with hundreds of L.A. City workers, are working as contact tracers to help identify people who have come in contact with COVID-19 and limit the spread of this virus. Contact tracers can also help connect you to resources if you’ve tested positive or been in contact with someone with the virus.

L.A. County Department of Public Health

The City and County are working together to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health provides public health and safety information on the virus. Visit their website for more information.

The County and the City are closely tracking information and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

The State of California’s COVID-19 website provides statewide information, including vaccine distribution phases, regional stay at home orders, and information on benefits, family leave, small business support, and other important resources.

COVID-19 Emergency Renter Protections

Current Renter’s Protections

Relevant Ordinances: 

  • Ordinance 186607 effective March 30, 2020: rent increases are prohibited for rental units subject to the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) until 1 year after the expiration of the Local Emergency Period which is ongoing.
  • Ordinance No.186585 effective March 31, 2020: additional protections
  • Ordinance No. 186606 effective May 12, 2020: additional protections 

Until the end of Los Angeles’s Emergency Declaration, tenants cannot be evicted. Tenants who have unpaid rent are protected up to 12 months following the end of the Declaration of Local Emergency, or until May 1, 2023, whichever date comes first.
