Pride Month 2026
We celebrate Pride Month each June by providing information on mental health and support for our LGBTQI+ communities.
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning Plus (LGBTQ+*) community represents a diverse range of identities and expressions of gender and sexual orientation. In addition to these identities, members of the community are diverse in terms of race, religion, ethnicity, nationality and socioeconomic class. This intersectionality — the combined and overlapping aspects of a persons’s identity — brings diversity of thought, perspective, understanding and experience. This complexity is important to understand as a unique and valuable aspect of the LGBTQ+ community that can result in a strong sense of pride and resiliency. LGBTQI+ community represents a diverse range of identities and expressions of gender and sexual orientation, and community members face unique challenges as a result of mental health stigma and more. We join fellow NAMI affiliates in accentuating our commitment to unconditional support for the LGBTQI+ community, calling for increased awareness and action to address that community’s mental health disparities and unique needs—not just in June, but every month.
NAMI supports public policies that reduce mental health inequities for LGBTQ+ populations, like enforcing non-discrimination protections in health care and removing barriers to accessing appropriate mental health care. Members of the LGBTQ+ community experience mental health conditions at a higher rate than their peers, but often cannot access the mental health care they need. All people deserve access to quality mental health care, free from discrimination or interference.
2026 Pride Events include: Pride Night at Dodger Stadium on Friday, June 5. https://www.outloudmusicfestival.com/weho
